By Sean Doorly

Lindsay Lohan was born in Long Island, New York, and was only 3, when she began her career as a Ford model. She soon jumped to acting – first appearing in numerous commercials and then a regular gig on a soap opera.

She shot to stardom in her films, “The Parent Trap,” “Freaky Friday,” and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.” Now at 17, Lohan stars in the new film “Mean Girls” from Paramount. She plays Cady Heron who’s been raised in the African bush and home-schooled her whole life. She’s in for a rude awakening when she enters high school in Chicago for the first time at 15.

She must navigate the classroom jungle and battle the toughest predator of all– popular girls.

ChannelOne.com: “Mean Girls” is all about cliques. Were you in one in high school?

Lindsay Lohan: I wasn’t really in a clique. I was all over the place. I was a floater– someone who got along with everybody. I was a cheerleader and I played soccer and basketball.

Q: Do you relate to your character in the film ?

A: I switched schools in 10th grade, so I can relate to my character on that level– because it’s difficult meeting new people.

Q: So how are you different?

A: She changed who she was, so people would like her. I don’t think I would do that.

Q: What was it like working with Tina Fey?

A: She’s really cool. She’s really down to earth and fun. It was very convenient to have the writer on the set, because if you have any questions she’s right there.

Q: Are you nervous about hosting “Saturday Night Live” in May?

A: I’m excited about “SNL.” I think it should be fun.

Q: You were only 10 when you starred in “The Parent Trap.” How did you handle all that attention at such a young age?

A: I went back to school. I was out of school for eight months filming that movie. After I finished, I wanted to go back to school. I didn’t tell my friends where I was, or what I did.

Q: How did they react when the film finally came out?

A: They said, “why didn’t you tell us?” It’s weird to talk about that stuff. They were cool about it – they didn’t really care.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your music. How would you describe it?

A: It’s rock meets hip-hop. It has a lot of guitar.

Q: Who are your influences?

A: I’m a huge Prince and Madonna fan. I also like N.E.R.D. and Outkast. It ranges from everyone.

Q: If you weren’t an actress, what do you think you do for a career?

A: I would probably be in the fashion industry– something completely different. Or I would study entertainment law.

Q: You’ve worked in film and television, which do you prefer?

A: I like film. I guess because I’m more used to film– it’s more comfortable for me. It’s three months and your done.

Q: Some television people like the hours – they think of it more like a 9-5 job.

A: Yeah I don’t like that. I’m 17, I don’t want a 9-5 job.
